About the VEDC The Vocational and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (VEDC) represents ICDA's most expansive operational mandate — managing CBN-funded development centres across Delta, Edo, and Bayelsa States. These centres are physical hubs of skills acquisition, business development, and economic empowerment, each equipped with modern training facilities, qualified instructors, and linkages to local employers and financial institutions. Courses and Trades Offered The VEDC curriculum spans a wide range of vocational and technical skills, all designed to meet real market demand in the South South region and beyond. Current offerings include: Electrical installation and solar energy systems Plumbing and pipe-fitting Catering, hospitality, and food processing Fashion design, tailoring, and textile arts Hairdressing, cosmetology, and beauty therapy Building and construction technology Computer operation and digital skills Soap, detergent, and household products manufacturing Agricultural value chain processing Small engine mechanics and auto-repair Our Approach The VEDC model integrates technical skill-building with entrepreneurship education. A plumber trained at ICDA's VEDC doesn't just know how to install pipes — they know how to price a job, register a business, access working capital, and market their services. This combination is what separates ICDA's approach from conventional vocational schools and drives dramatically better economic outcomes for graduates. Courses run in flexible formats — full-time cohorts of 3–6 months and modular short courses of 2–4 weeks — to accommodate students, workers, and returnees at different life stages. Certification Graduates of VEDC programs receive CBN-endorsed certificates recognised by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and state ministries of education. Many graduates use these credentials to access formal employment, secure trade finance, or register cooperatives and small enterprises. Impact at a Glance Across three states and multiple annual cohorts, the VEDC has trained and certified thousands of Nigerians in practical, market-relevant skills. Graduation ceremonies regularly feature representation from CBN officials, state governors, and private sector partners — a reflection of the esteem in which these centres are held at the highest levels of government. Enrol Today The VEDC accepts applications throughout the year. New cohorts begin every quarter. Visit any of our centres in Delta, Edo, or Bayelsa States, or complete the online enrolment form to express your interest. Partial and full scholarships are available through CBN partnership support.
